The Sockeye are coming, but the trout are already here.

by Mysticfish on July 16, 2008

25,000 Sockeye hit the river on Tuesday.  We should be in fresh tasty salmon for the next several weeks.  That is, if we can take the time away from chasing rainbows.  One of Stacy’s anglers hooked chromer sockeye while trout fishing yesterday.  They went straight to the bank for sashimi.
Lots of nice 24″ to 29″ rainbows this week.  Here are a few pictures I have received from earlier in July.

Jason went from the Kenai to the Kanektok where he landed his first King and many others on the fly.  Way to go Jason!  I know your Dad was loving it.

Alen from Anchorage took some time away from the Anchor to join his friend Bryan on the Kenai.  We had some fun sight fishing to big rainbows.

If you are going to Alaska, float the Kenai.
If you are going to float the Kenai, go with Mystic Waters and Fred Telleen. Fred will be the most competent and hard working guide you have experienced. You will not be disappointed with either Fred’s work or the fishing.
Everyone of the days we have been privileged to spend with Fred have been more than memorable
